ball for Pa's hands

bouncing me

round his shoulders

or Grandma's apron

a mitt to catch me

running away from some boogie man!

In those days Johnny pumps ran wild

and the kin stretched out summer

picnic escapes to Bear Mountain country

leaving New York city behind

I am a poet trying to get published. An idea I have is for Ms. Winfrey to show- case her favorite poems. Poems by living authors can be invited to read live, on the show. Oprah's favorite poems by authors who are no longer living, can be read by other celebrities. A portion of the show can be used to show- case the work of a few unknowns such as myself-- there can be a contest, where viewers can vote to determine which unknown poets will get to share their poetry on national television
